The short answer

Buy the IC-7610 if you are a contester, a serious DX chaser or a SO2V operator who needs two genuinely independent receivers and the close-in dynamic range to hear a weak signal beside a strong one. Skip it if you are a general operator with a wire antenna in a suburban garden, because at that point the money buys far more signal as a tower, a beam and better feedline than it buys as a receiver.
