Corrections to technical figures get answered first.

The short answer

Use the form below to reach HamRadioSetup.com. Technical corrections are prioritised. For a gear recommendation, include your licence class, what you want to do, how much antenna space you have, and your budget.

Questions, corrections and permission requests all go through the form below. It reaches [email protected] directly.

What gets answered fastest

  1. Corrections to a formula, a band edge, a licence privilege, or anything on the safety pages. These come first. Include what you entered and what you expected.
  2. Gear questions, if you include your licence class, what you want to do, and crucially how much antenna space you have. Antenna space shapes the answer more than budget does.
  3. Permission to reuse a chart or table.

What this site cannot help with

Anything requiring a licensed electrician, which includes work on your service panel, and anything requiring a professional tower crew. Also individual equipment repair diagnosis: a local club will beat any website at that, and finding one is genuinely the best move a new operator can make.

Common questions

Questions people ask about this

Will you tell me which radio to buy for my situation?

Usually yes, and it is the most common message the site gets. Say what licence class you hold, what you want to do (repeaters, HF voice, digital modes, portable operating), where the antenna can physically go, and your budget. Antenna space changes the answer more than budget does, so that detail matters most.

I found a mistake in a calculator or chart.

Please send it, and include the numbers you entered and the result you expected. Technical corrections are prioritised over everything else here, because a wrong figure in a calculator is worse than having no calculator at all. Band edges, licence privileges and anything on the safety pages get fixed the same day.

Do you accept paid placements or sponsored posts?

No paid placement in a roundup, ever. A product cannot buy a position, a rating or a mention. Genuine affiliate relationships are disclosed on every page and on the affiliate disclosure page. Manufacturers who want a product considered are welcome to send documentation and measurement data, which is treated exactly like any other published source.

Can I reuse a chart or a table from the site?

Quote a figure or a short excerpt with a link back and that is welcome. Republishing an entire chart, page or build list needs written permission, which is usually granted for non-commercial and educational use if you ask.

Keeping your own cut lengths, SWR sweeps and exposure record? The Station Build & Antenna Planner is the paid version of these pages: 8 printable worksheets you fill in with your own numbers, plus the full PDF, $29.

Disclaimer Researched guidance for planning purposes, not professional engineering, electrical or legal advice. Antenna work, RF exposure, mast and tower work, grounding and battery handling all carry real risk that depends on your specific site and installation. Verify anything safety-critical against current FCC rules, the National Electrical Code and the manufacturer's own documentation, and hire a professional where the job calls for one. We research equipment from published specifications, regulatory documents and verified owner reviews rather than claiming hands-on testing we have not done.
